Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata magic mushrooms are now widely populated throughout the Ohio River Valley. That it is now being seen sporadically in Euope and through the Western US speaks to its ability to spore widely and efficiently. Patches are quite densely packed and may include hundreds of mushrooms in a patch. Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata does not like direct sunlight, rather its grows best in wood forests with shady canopies. They fruit earlier then most species, commonly in the spring.
